This ten week course introduces actors to the Meisner Technique and its application with script and camera work.
As an actor, it is your job to arrive prepared to set, to give a truthful and moving performance. No amount of special affects or tricky editing can bring out an actors truth on screen and learning how to give a director/casting director what they need and when they need it is a craft that takes training and experience. Our screen acting course is specifically designed to give actors the skills required to do the job consistently at an international level of acting.
At the core of this screen acting course are the underlying principals of the Meisner Technique as well as the classic structure of story and character breakdown. The course is broken up into three levels which build upon each other, allowing students to understand and develop one step at a time. The course is on-going and over the three levels these are the subjects we will be covering:
Admission into the course is through audition only at the price of $45. At the end of every ten weeks you will get a show reel shot on a broadcast quality camera (conditions apply) at no charge, in a professionally set up TV Studio.
We will pay for some of your acting classes!
A discount of $190 will be given to any student that is accepted into
our professional screen acting course when they also enroll into our Meisner
acting technique classes. Please note that the acting technique class
is specifically pinpointing the technical acting floors in your work for
both screen and stage. It is the core work that must be strengthened in
order to give a moving performance
Directional style acting classes VS Technique style acting classes
Technique style acting classes teach you a true step by step approach to acting. Step by step means A comes before B, B comes before C, C comes before D etc, not a mumble jumble, bits and pieces, scattered technique, that leaves actors confused without a full instrument. Example: a guitar with a two strings. The Meisner Technique works in an orderly manner to make sure this doesn’t happen.
Directional style acting classes are more ‘director
driven’ than process driven. What I mean by this is, is that if you have
an audition that you have already rehearsed and it is at a level where
it needs to be shaped then hiring a director to shape it for you would
be a good option. This can be done through a private one-on-one session.
However, if taken as an on-going class I truly believe that directional-style
acting classes are nowhere near as beneficial on a day to day, week in
week out basis as the focus is not on developing a process that enables
actors to work on their whole instrument, it is designed for that big
audition or call back.
